Liverpool’s Portuguese forward Diogo Jota, 28, died in a fiery car crash near Zamora in northwestern Spain with his brother, a Spanish state-owned TV station said on Thursday, citing local firefighters.
Police told Reuters everything pointed to that information being correct, although they could not yet officially confirm the names.
The regional fire department of Castile-Leon, where Zamora is located, said on its website that a car crashed shortly after midnight on Thursday and burst into flames, with two men, aged 28 and 26, found dead.
Jota, who got married on June 28, helped Liverpool win the Premier League last season and also won the FA Cup and League Cup with the Merseyside outfit.
Jota arrived at Anfield from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2020 and scored 65 goals in 182 appearances for the club in all competitions.He also made 49 appearances for Portugal, winning the UEFA Nations League twice.

The star was reportedly in the car with his brother Andre when the vehicle went off the road.

Jota played on the left wing for Liverpool after joining from Wolves in 2020 for a fee of £41million.
He had got married 10 days ago to his partner Rute Cardoso and the couple have three children.
They shared pictures of them in front of the altar with their children.
In the caption, they said: “June 22, 2025. Yes to forever.”
The Instagram post received over 190,000 likes and over 1,000 comments.
And it included love heart emojis from fellow Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez and Natalia Becker, wife of goalkeeper Alisson.
