Gary LeVox, Lead Singer Of Rascal Flatts, Is Heartbroken After Losing A Close Friend, Brandon Blackstock
Brandon Blackstock, artist manager and ex-husband of Kelly Clarkson, passed away on August 7th surrounded by loved ones following a three-year battle with cancer. His father’s company, Starstruck Entertainment, released the following statement announcing his death.
Rascal Flatts’ lead singer, Gary LeVox, was one of the first celebrities to pay tribute to him. Brandon worked at Starstruck as a talent manger before he transitioned out of entertainment to live full time in Montana, where he founded Valley View Rodeo in 2023.
His celebrity clients included Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton, and Rascal Flatts, among others.
LeVox took to social media to mourn the loss of his friend, who he called a “lifelong brother.”

Blackstock was Rascal Flatts’ tour manager in the early days of their career, and was present at the ACM Awards in 2006 when they performed “What Hurts The Most” with Kelly Clarkson. That is when he and Clarkson met for the first time, but they reconnected six years later.
Blackstock’s Passing Comes One Day After Kelly Clarkson Postponed Shows To Be “Fully Present” For Her Kids Amid Their Dad’s Illness
For months now, it has been rumored that Blackstock has been sick. Though they had split in 2020, Brandon Blackstock is still the father of her children. Clarkson took a long, unannounced hiatus from her talk show in March, only mentioning that it’s been a “sad time” for her children.
On Wednesday (August 6), Clarkson announced that she will be postponing the rest of her August Las Vegas Residency dates, while revealing that Blackstock has been ill for the past year.

“Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas. While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them. I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding.“
