The incident took place in the northwestern region of Xinjiang at a tourist location on Wednesday, Aug. 6, according to Chinese media outlets Global Times and the Xinhua News Agency.
Twenty-nine people were on the bridge at 6:18 p.m. local time on Wednesday when the cables broke in the Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture, Xinhua reported.
The Jiangjun Bridge then tilted to one side and people fell off, according to Global Times.
